New Limits on Healthcare Taxes

CCH Medicare and Medicaid Guide, in their March 4th issue, reports that new federal regulations will limit healthcare taxes imposed by States on SNFs (also known as bed tax) to 5.5% of revenues. This is an effort to limit the amount of Federal matching funds the States will recieve for the Medicaid costs of SNFs for costs related to taxes.


NPI Number

CCH Medicare and Medicaid Guide, in their February 19th issue, reports that beginning May 23, 2008, Medicare claims should only show an NPI number, and not the 6-digit provider number.


DSH Medicaid Fraction

March 10, 2008

CCH Medicare and Medicaid Guide, in their January 29th issue, related that the PRRB allowed a New Jersey hospital to use charity care days in the Medicaid fraction of a hospital’s DSH calculation. This, however, was later overturned by the CMS Administrator, as reported by CCH in their March 4th issue.


New Medicaid Part B Physician Schedule

CCH Medicare and Medicaid Guide, in their January 29th issue, relates that they 10% proposed cut to physicial fee schedule payments for Medicare Part B have been postponed for six months, until 7/1/08- but new legislation can stop the cuts at 7/1/08.


Payments for HMO Medical Education

Reopening For NPR
