Per CMS regulations, there are several new transmittals in the offing for cost report software.

The SNF (2540-10) cost report and HHA (1728-94) cost report will both be required to be filed on the new transmittals for cost report periods ending 12/31/17 and later.  At this point, no more SNF or HHA cost reports should be filed until the new software has been approved by CMS for the various software vendors, which will hopefully be shortly.  The SNF will be T8 and the HHA T18.

Hospice 1984-14 T3 will be released, as well, but will only be required for cost reporting periods ending after 12/31/17.

Of course, PPS has been working hard to ensure updating our acclaimed Med-Calc software in a timely manner to facilitate preparers who wish to submit their cost reports as soon as possible.

The main difference in the new transmittals is the accommodation for electronic signatures, per our previous blog, Electronic Signatures – A New Era?  The electronic signature allowance will help facilitate uploading cost reports through the new online submission portal.
